There’s something so relaxing about sitting down with a paintbrush in one hand and a glass of wine (if you’re 21, of course!) in the other. Painting with a Twist is one of my absolute favorite ways to unwind after a long week of classes, and it’s the perfect spot for a girls’ night out. Whether you’re a total beginner or secretly a Picasso, it’s all about having fun and laughing at each other’s masterpieces. Plus, you get to take home your own artwork—who doesn’t love a good DIY home decor project?

If you know me, you know that I’m always running on caffeine. And when it comes to coffee spots, Luma is hands-down the best in Hammond. It’s such a cute and cozy place to meet up with friends between classes or on a lazy weekend morning. I’m obsessed with their Iced Mocha Espresso (trust me, it’s a game-changer), and the whole vibe of the cafe makes it the perfect backdrop for catching up with your besties. Whether you’re team iced or hot coffee, Luma has something for everyone.

Take Photos at the Hammond Sign

Okay, let’s be real for a second—if you didn’t take pics, did it even happen? Dressing up and taking photos at the Hammond sign downtown is an absolute must, especially for sorority girls like us who are always looking for cute Instagram content. The bright and bold “Hammond” sign makes for the perfect backdrop, and you can make it a whole event with everyone coordinating outfits or going for a specific theme. Plus, downtown Hammond is super charming and has plenty of things to do, so after your impromptu photoshoot, you can grab a bite to eat or explore the local shops nearby.

Painting in the Park

If you love being outdoors and getting creative at the same time, you’ll have so much fun relaxing and painting in the park with the girls. My friends and I love bringing canvases, paint, and snacks to Cate Square Park and spending a sunny afternoon just hanging out and making art. (Purchase a pre-made kit to make it easy!) It’s a great way to unplug from schoolwork, soak up some vitamin D, and have some meaningful conversations with your squad. There’s something so peaceful about the whole experience, and by the end of it, you’ve created something special to remember the day by.

P.S. I've eaten pizza in the Cate Square Park gazebo before... 10/10 recommend.

For those early Saturday mornings when you want to feel productive (but not too productive), the Hammond Farmers Market is such a cute place to visit. I love grabbing my reusable tote bag and heading there with a couple of friends to check out all the fresh produce, local crafts, and tasty treats. It’s also a great way to support small businesses in the community, which I’m all about. And let’s not forget the free samples (yes, please!) and the chance to take some cute, casual photos while browsing the stalls. Afterward, we usually grab brunch, which makes for the perfect Saturday morning.
